The Large Letter Tiles in Box One are great for instructing students in kindergarten
and fi rst grade who are beginning to read and for teaching struggling readers
of any age. The Large Letter Tiles are designed for whole class or large group
instruction. Kindergarten teachers use the Large Letter Tiles to teach capital
letters, matching upper and lower case letters, and alphabetization. The red
vowel tiles help students learn their vowels and that every word and syllable
must have a vowel. First grade teachers and those working with struggling readers
use the tiles to show spellings for words with short vowels, digraphs, trigraphs,
blends, inflectional suffixes, and silent e.

The Large Letter Tiles in Box Two help students understand complex vowel spellings,
suffixes, and unusual consonant spellings. These tiles are especially useful
when students competently read and spell words with common short vowel patterns
and are learning to read words with silent e, vowel teams, r-controlled vowels,
suffixes, and more complex consonant spellings. The tiles in Box Two must be
used with Box One and are not to be used without Box One.
Large Letter Tile Box Two includes:
